BrodbeckDebarbuat-Portrait_recadre2.jpg

"Our four-handed work has taken the form of stories exploring the representation of spirits and souls. Based essentially on the use of photography and video, these symbolic ensembles attempt to put in suspense our perception of reality and time, thus questioning our relationship to the world and the beyond."

Brodbeck & de Barbuat's projects take the form of stories articulated around the exploration of the notions of time and space-time. Urban or family solitude, existential wandering, their compositions want to capture the silent melancholy of the human kind in different ways, to translate the tenuous gap separating our existence from the dream world. This work is gradually nourished by video projects that present a reflection on the limit between moving and frozen images.

Recent press

"Slowed down pans, reversed camera movements, fixed shots, all together provoke an effect of fascination. A pure emotion, with ordinary images of streets and crowds. Hypnotized, the gaze tracks the tiny tremors of this visual ballet. Where sometimes a voice slips softly between a couple of young lovers or in the middle of the urban crowd that time seems to have suspended." Frédérique Chapuis in Télérama, November. 2019
